Gynecology

Student Health Services understands the needs and challenges of gynecological health. The gynecology department offers preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment for gynecological concerns.  

We are committed to providing expert, confidential care.

Services

Available services include:

  • Routine examinations and pap smears
  • Diagnosis and treatment of gynecological problems
  • Contraception (Nexplanon implant, pills, shot, patches)
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Prenatal referral
  • Abortion referral
  • Sexually transmitted infection diagnosis and treatment (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and genital herpes)
  • HPV vaccine
  • HIV testing

HIV Testing

HIV testing will be a part of your medical record. The costs include the lab test plus on office visit charge appropriate for the complexity of each case. We will bill your insurance company.

Your appointment begins with an educational session covering routes of transmission of HIV, risk factors, ways to protect yourself and an opportunity to ask questions about HIV and sexual health.

You may want to get an HIV test if you:

  • Have engaged in unprotected sex
  • Have had sex with multiple partners
  • Are beginning a new relationship
  • Are planning overseas travel
  • Desire peace of mind

After the initial conversation with the clinician you are sent to the lab for the test. We use the Clear View rapid antibody test for HIV 1 and 2, which requires a finger prick for a blood sample. You will be counseled through every step of this process with the clinician.

Referrals

If you need additional care, we will refer you to the appropriate medical specialist or agency.  We maintain strict confidentiality and require your written consent before releasing records. 

Where to Purchase Plan B

Student Health Services recognizes that students may seek access to Plan B contraceptives, which may be purchased at the following Oxford pharmacies:

  • CVS, 123 Spring Street, Oxford, OH
  • Kroger, 200 S. Locust Street, Oxford, OH
  • Walmart, 5720 College Corner Pike, Oxford, OH

  • Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Closed when the university is closed.

Summer Hours

  • Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Closed when the university is closed.
