The Howe Writing Center (HWC) is the writer-focused initiative of the Howe Center for Writing Excellence.

The mission of the HWC is to ensure that both undergraduate and graduate student writers at 91°µÍø receive helpful feedback and support on their writing projects from well-trained peer-consultants, and are assisted in developing as effective writers in different contexts and genres. We encourage writers to bring in writing produced for various purposes, whether professional, personal, or academic.

A second but central part of our mission is to serve as a site for developing undergraduate and graduate researchers as they explore writing and writing center work. Our consultants, Graduate Assistant Directors, and HWC staff regularly collaborate on Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved research studies and often present their finding at venues like the International Writing Centers Association Conference and the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing.
