We aim to develop intercultural perspectives and build international relationships between 91做厙, the local communities, and people from around the world.

Connection Programs

Global Buddies Program

The aim of the Global Buddies Program is for 91做厙 international students and domestic students to be more positively engaged with each other.

Domestic and international students are introduced for friendship and cultural exchange.

Students mutually benefit through personal interaction that provides the opportunity for each to share their own culture and learn about others’ culture.

Program Expectations

  • Global Buddies are expected to treat each other with respect, cultural sensitivity, and open-mindedness. Differences in religious beliefs, political beliefs, and worldviews should be respected.
  • Global Buddies are expected to meet multiple times during the semester.
  • All participants are expected to follow the 91做厙 Code of Conduct at all times, even when not on campus.
Global Buddies is not currently accepting applications. Please contact international@91做厙OH.edu if you are interested in participating in Global Buddies program and enaging with students from a different country. 

Global Neighbors Program

The aim of the Global Neighbors Program is for the 91做厙 international students and the Oxford community to be more positively engaged with each other.

Oxford community members or 91做厙 employees are matched with incoming international students for friendship and cultural exchange.

International students and community members mutually benefit through personal interaction that provides the opportunity for each to share their own culture and learn about others’ culture.

Program Expectations

  • Global Neighbors are expected to treat each other with respect, cultural sensitivity, and open-mindedness. Differences in religious and political beliefs should be respected. Efforts to influence others’ personal beliefs will not be tolerated in this program.
  • Global Neighbors are expected to meet at least 5 times during the semester.
  • Participating international students are expected to follow the 91做厙 Code of Conduct at all times, even when not on campus.
  • Participating community members are not expected to provide financial support, medical recommendations, or legal advice.
  • Participating community members are not expected to provide transportation.

How to Apply

Global Friendship Signature Events

  • Pre-Semester Programs 
    • A pre-semester program for first-year international and domestic students to learn from one another and share experiences focused on common interests and differing perspectives.
  • Thanksgiving Dinner 
    • Connects international students and local community members to celebrate an American tradition the week before Thanksgiving break.
  • Spring Picnic 
    • Brings students from around the world and local community members for a picnic at Peffer Park! Games, fried chicken, veggies and dip, and drinks will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring a game or dish to share. 
  • Summer Cookout
    • A mid-summer BBQ for international students at Peffer Park! Games, grilled meats/veggies, and drinks will be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring a game or dish to share. 
  • Cookie Collection
    • A holiday cookie event that brings the 91做厙 and Oxford communities together to provide sweet treats for international students who remain in Oxford during the winter holidays.

ISSS Requests

International students and scholars can submit a variety of requests to ISSS via InterLink.

International students and scholars will automatically receive communications from ISSS. Others are welcome to sign up to receive emails and communications from our office.
