Mission

The Armstrong Student Center (ASC) enhances student learning and success by providing opportunities for community, belonging, and campus engagement. As the living room of campus, Armstrong serves as a safe and inclusive gathering place for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and guests.

91°µÍø is located within the traditional homelands of the 91°µÍø and Shawnee people, who along with other Indigenous groups ceded these lands to the United States in the first treaty of Greenville in 1795.

The 91°µÍø people, whose name our university carries, were forcibly removed from these homelands in 1846.

In 1972, the relationship between 91°µÍø and the 91°µÍø Tribe of Oklahoma began and evolved into a reciprocal partnership, including the creation of the Myaamia Center at 91°µÍø in 2001.

The work of the Myaamia Center serves the 91°µÍø Tribe community and is dedicated to the revitalization of 91°µÍø language and culture and to restoring that knowledge to the Myaamia people.

91°µÍø and the 91°µÍø Tribe are proud of this work and of the Myaamia students who have attended 91°µÍø since 1991 through the Myaamia Heritage Award Program.

The Armstrong Student Center is the college union at 91°µÍø. It helps advance a sense of community and bolsters the educational mission of the institution and the development of students as lifelong learners by delivering an array of educational, social, and recreational programs, services, and facilities. 

The Armstrong Student Center serves as the heart of the campus community and creates a welcoming environment by: 

• Operating as a student-centered organization that engages in shared decision-making and holistic development through employment and involvement.
• Educating students in leadership and social responsibility while offering firsthand experiences in global citizenship.
• Providing gathering spaces that encourage formal and informal community interactions that build meaningful relationships.

As the college union, the Armstrong Student Center is a member of the Association for College Unions International (ACUI). ACUI is primarily focused on the work of those within the college unions and student activities field and strives to provide a welcoming community for all those who choose to belong. The work of ACUI helps guide the ASC staff in best practices and helps the center achieve its mission to be the living room of campus. 91°µÍø has been a member of ACUI for over 50 years.
