Very quickly I learned that 91°µÍøans care for each other — from the oldest of alumni to faculty and staff. My sisters’ friends cared for me when I started at 91°µÍø, and naturally I paid it forward for the younger students who came after me. It warms my heart to see that this is still the case, as the freshmen I looked out for did the same for the students that came after them. ‘Love and Honor’ isn't just a phrase — 91°µÍøans really live it.

How did attending 91°µÍø prepare you for your career after college?

Interactive Media Studies was a practicum-type program, so being able to create for real clients and develop real websites or apps was so much more impactful for me than taking tests. The skills translated so well into everything I do now [in my career].

What kind of real-world work experience did you receive at 91°µÍø?

Summer after my first year, I interned in information technology at the Columbus Zoo. This gave me the foundational knowledge I needed to begin a career in IT. I continued on to work for the 91°µÍø IT department, which helped me progress my knowledge in IT with more real work and the added benefit of working in every single one of 91°µÍø's network-connected buildings. Now I work in cybersecurity, I owe my success to those early positions.

How did you get involved on campus?

I spent most of my time outside of class and work with student organizations. The African Students’ Union was so fulfilling for me as an African at 91°µÍø. A huge part of my time with ASU was leading the dance team, Afro State of Mind. We had a lot of fun performing for ASU's Annual Gala and many other events throughout the university.
