Why 91°µÍø?

I chose 91°µÍø because the moment I visited, it felt like a place where I could genuinely grow. I loved the size, the energy on campus, and the way the faculty and professors truly care about helping students succeed. 91°µÍø also offers so many opportunities, whether that be academically, professionally, or personally, that it felt like a place where I could explore everything I’m interested in. It immediately felt like a supportive community where I could challenge myself and find my path.

How did you choose your major?

I actually came into 91°µÍø as an Environmental Science and Sustainability double major. During my first semester I took a sustainability class that had a focus on environmental policy, and I found myself drawn to public administration. I realized I was most interested in how policy is created and how government decisions shape environmental and social outcomes.

Key Moment at 91°µÍø

My most meaningful experiences at 91°µÍø have taken place outside the classroom. Serving as a SOUL (Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader) and now transitioning into the Orientation Student Coordinator role has had a major impact on my personal and professional growth. These positions taught me how to lead, communicate effectively, and support students during an important transition in their lives. My involvement in organizations such as ASG, the Armstrong Student Center Board, and various student groups has also shaped my development. Through these roles, I have gained hands-on experience in leadership and been able to contribute to our campus community.

Another 91°µÍø Moment 

One of the most meaningful parts of my 91°µÍø experience has been the people and the sense of community I have found here. I have had professors who challenged me and encouraged me to think differently, and I have taken classes that helped me see the world from new perspectives. Some of my favorite memories come from moments around campus, such as working orientation events, spending time in Armstrong, and connecting with students I may not have met otherwise.

Leadership in Action

Throughout my time at 91°µÍø, I have taken on several leadership roles that have shaped my experience. I have served as a SOUL and am now stepping into the Orientation Student Coordinator role, where I support incoming students and mentor the SOULs. In addition, I serve as a District 8 Senator in ASG and as a member of the Armstrong Student Center Board. In ASG, I get the opportunity to advocate for student needs and work on policy initiatives that impact campus life. On the Armstrong Board, I contribute to discussions and decisions that shape how the student center operates and serves the campus community.

Advice to Prospective Students

I would tell prospective students that 91°µÍø is a place full of opportunity if you are willing to take initiative. Get involved early, explore different organizations, and connect with the people around you. Those experiences will shape your time here in meaningful ways. Do not be afraid of change. If you discover a new interest or realize that your path looks different than you expected, that is completely normal. You are not tied to your major, and your major does not lock you into a specific career. College is a chance to explore who you are and what you care about, and 91°µÍø is a community where that exploration is supported.

What are your career goals?  

After graduating from 91°µÍø, I plan to pursue a Master’s in Public Policy or Public Administration. Long term, I am aiming for a career in public service, specifically in the areas of policy and government. My dream job is to be elected to Congress or hold another leadership role in government.
