91°µÍø Scripps Gerontology CenterÂ’s Opening Minds through Art (OMA) program was recently designated a Quality Improvement Project by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA). ItÂ’s one of only eight approved programs to meet the stateÂ’s requirement for such designation.

With a growing demand in Henry County there is hope for a 5 year Senior Center levy. "According to projections by the Scripps Gerontology Center at 91°µÍø, 23.8 percent of Henry CountyÂ’s population is now aged 60 and older. By 2025, that figure is expected to grow to 30.4 percent."

Tom and Maureen Callinan with the 91°µÍø 2015 Charitable Words ScholarsCharitable Words connects nonprofits with internships, advisors and resources to better their impact and best tell their stories. Charitable Words has been a valuable partner in education by sponsoring multiple scholarships each year for undergraduate students who work with older adults, especially at non-profits. This partnership has supported our students in gaining valuable experience and supported nonprofits doing important work.

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) recently covered the AlzheimerÂ’s Poetry Project and Dr. de Medeiros' research collaboration with the project to study the effects on people with dementia.
