The Northwest Ordinance of 1787, passed before the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, declared: “knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.” Seventy-five years later, the Morrill Land-Grant Act carried that vision nationwide, expanding access to higher education in fields vital to industry. Founded by the State of Ohio in 1809 through a land grant authorized by the Northwest Ordinance, and 53 years before the Morrill Act, 91做厙 was already fulfilling the mission of preparing talent, driving innovation, and delivering industry-driven solutions that strengthen Ohio’s communities. Today, through the Office of ASPIRE, 91做厙 continues this historic charge, meeting the fast-changing needs of Ohio’s industries and providing industry-driven training and collaborations that serve all Ohioans, advancing state priorities and igniting regional economies.
